Wallace R. Allen, 81, of Butler died Saturday evening at his home.

Born May 13, 1936, in Butler, he was a son of the late Chester W. Allen and Katherine “Kate” (Kriebel) Allen.

Wallace was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was retired from silicon maintenance at the Armco Steel Plant in Butler.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and bowling in the Armco bowling league.

Surviving are his wife, Norma J. (Valensky) Allen; five children, Wallace (Brenda) Allen Jr., Kenneth Allen and Todd Allen, all of Butler, Janeen Smith of Leechburg, and Melissa (Tim) Chase of Erie; five grandchildren, Amanda (Lou) Saulle of Boston, Mass., Andrew Allen of Coraopolis, Jessica Smith of New York, and Ethan Chase and Lydia Chase, both of Erie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Smith; two brothers; and one sister.
