Man found with stab wound faces charges
At least one set of charges have been brought against a Clearfield Township man police discovered bleeding from a stab wound Wednesday night.
According to state police, Kurt Leinenbach, 35, was found in his home Wednesday night.
“Leinenbach had been a suspect in a violent encounter in Chicora borough and was severely injured in the process,” police said.
Leinenbach's condition was not immediately known; however, state police filed charges Thursday that include felony theft and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The criminal complaint filed in the case as well as multiple news releases allude to possibility of other charges against Leinenbach.
Police said they had their first encounter with Leinenbach around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when Leinenbach was involved in a domestic dispute on the 100 block of South Main Street in Chicora. Police found him to be driving a vehicle while intoxicated and arrested him for DUI.
He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for blood testing and then released to his mother. As of noon Monday, charges have not yet been filed in relation to the DUI.
Police said Leinenbach's mother began driving him to his home on the 200 block of Criley Road in Clearfield Township.
“Leinenbach objected to returning home and asked that (his mother) return him to (the 100 block) of South Main Street,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
Police said Leinenbach's mother refused, at which point her son exited the vehicle. Police said she waited, Leinenbach returned and they continued driving.
Police said Leinenbach exited the vehicle again in the area of University Korner on Chicora Road in Oakland Township. Police said Leinenbach's mother waited for “several minutes” before leaving, at which time she noticed a silver pickup pulling out of a nearby driveway.
According to police, Leinenbach had stolen the two-door pickup, leading to the charges.
“The registered owner was unaware that his vehicle was not in his driveway until informed so by troopers,” police said.
Police said Leinenbach drove the truck to the location of the earlier domestic in Chicora. Police said they received a call from the Chicora home, advising that Leinenbach had been there and had since fled. Police said the caller also noted Leinenbach was seriously injured.
“It was determined through witness interviews that Leinenbach received a stab wound to his upper body area before fleeing,” police said.
Further details were not listed in the affidavit for the stabbing and the events that led to it. Charges have yet to be filed against Leinenbach for the alleged break-in referenced in the affidavit.
According to court documents, police continued investigating the multiple incidents when they received a call from Leinenbach's mother, who found him in his home injured. Police responded to the Criley Road home.
“Leinenbach's clothes were soaked in wet blood,” police said.
Despite the multiple reports, Leinenbach's condition was not noted, nor was his method of transport for medical treatment. A state police news release noted that while being treated at the scene, Leinenbach was found with suspected drugs. Charges have yet to be filed in relation to that alleged offense.
Police said they found the allegedly stolen pickup truck in the parking lot of T-Bar on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township.
“The vehicle was unlocked with the keys still in the ignition,” police said. “Blood and bodily fluids were recovered from the vehicle.”
Police said they also have at least one witness who saw Leinenbach arrive and flee in the pickup truck from the Chicora home.
