New charges filed in case
Two more sets of charges have been filed against a Clearfield Township man who was stabbed during an alleged burglary earlier this month.
State police filed charges against Kurt Leinenbach, 35, who on Nov. 10 was found bleeding from a stab wound in his home.
Among the new charges, one set includes felony strangulation and misdemeanors of simple assault and terroristic threats. The other charges filed against him are felony burglary and criminal trespass as well as misdemeanors of terroristic threats and simple assault.
These join three other sets of charges against Leinenbach, all revolving around a domestic incident at his girlfriend's home on the 100 block of South Main Street in Chicora. Leinenbach has yet to be arrested on these charges.
The newly filed charges offer more details of Leinenbach's alleged offenses and his stabbing.
According to the affidavit, police spoke with the girlfriend, who told officers she had kicked Leinenbach out of the home a few days before because of his alleged drug usage.
The girlfriend said between 2 and 3 p.m. Nov. 10, Leinenbach arrived at her home and accused her of stealing.
She told officers she ran to her car to escape, but Leinenbach followed her.
“Leinenbach forced his way into the vehicle through the driver's side door, trying to get to (the girlfriend's) bag,” police said. “Leinenbach began fighting with (the woman) and grabbed her neck, choking her and causing her to be unable to breathe. Leinenbach also stated to (the girlfriend), 'I'm going to kill you.'”
Police said a construction worker nearby saw the altercation and approached to help the woman. The worker said by the time he reached the two, the girlfriend had driven away.
Police said the girlfriend supplied officers with two photographs she took, showing red marks around her neck.
Around 9:39 p.m. Nov. 10, Leinenbach was arrested for DUI and released to his mother, according to police.
Police said Leinenbach exited his mother's vehicle and ran from her as they were driving to her home. Police said Leinenbach then stole a pickup truck and drove back to his girlfriend's home. Charges for the stolen vehicle were filed against Leinenbach on Nov. 11.
Police said Leinenbach returned to his girlfriend's home, where her adult son and five juvenile sons live.
Police said some of the children were outside when Leinenbach arrived around 11 p.m., and they shouted to confirm it was him. Police said when they shouted, Leinenbach charged at them, and they ran inside.
Police said Leinenbach used a ratchet to break a window at the locked residence, climbed through the window into the kitchen and threatened to kill his girlfriend.
Police said the girlfriend ran into her bedroom, locked the door and called police.
“Leinenbach was trying to break the bedroom door down to get to (her), then Leinenbach turned toward the (adult son) and the juveniles,” police said.
Police said Leinenbach started swinging the girlfriend's sons, and a struggle ensued. The sons told officers they were in fear for their safety and the safety of their mother.
“(The adult son) and the juveniles utilized different objects from the residence to strike Leinenbach in an attempt to get him to leave the residence and defend themselves and (their mother),” police said.
Leinenbach suffered a stab wound before leaving the home in the truck he allegedly stole. From previous reports, police later found Leinenbach bleeding in his bedroom at his mother's home.
Police said they also found drugs near his body, and Leinenbach was charged with drug possession Nov. 17.
Once arrested, Leinenbach will be arraigned by a district judge and the five preliminary hearings will be scheduled before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
