CRANBERRY TWP — Contracts were awarded Thursday night for work planned at Graham Park.

The board of supervisors awarded a contract to A. Liberoni of Plum for $1.3 million for work relating to the Cranberry Township Community Chest’s 2017 project of the year.

The base bid was $606,550 with alternate bids for the parking lot at Miracle Field, paving all the sports courts, installing sidewalks and amenities for basketball, tennis, pickleball, horseshoe and boccie courts totaling $750,082.

General construction for a new bathroom in the park was awarded to Freedom Enterprises for $189,000. Plumbing construction for the bathroom went to Central Heating & Plumbing for $81,824 and electrical construction went to McCurley Houston Electric for $88,500.

The work is being done in conjunction with the Cranberry Township Community Chest’s 2017 project of the year, CTCC SportCourts at Graham Park.

CTCC is raising money to fund a variety of courts at the park, including tennis, basketball, horseshoes, boccie and pickleball, as well as a community garden.

The township, as part of its phase 2 development of Graham Park, is handling the project management, engineering, infrastructure, a new bathroom and additional parking.

This year’s project is unique as fundraisers decide what courts will be added to the park.

Bruce Mazzoni, township supervisor and CTCC board member, said they’re in their final push for fundraising as a final decision will be made on the exact number of courts May 15.

There are some grants and proposals outstanding, but Mazzoni said more donors are needed for boccie, horseshoes, tennis and basketball courts.

“We are thankful for all the support we have to date, but need other residents and businesses to help in the next six weeks to meet our goals,” he said.
