Mark D. Baker
Dr. Mark D. Baker D.O., 71, of Butler, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 6, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 30, 1950, in Connellsville, he was a son of the late Donald M. Baker and Betty Jean (Harvey) Baker.
Mark graduated from Connellsville High School in 1969, and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972, before graduating in 1976 from medical school at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He was board certified in emergency medicine, and had worked as an emergency room physician at Butler Memorial Hospital and then at ACMH-Hospital, retiring after more than 30 years.
He was a volunteer fireman for Fire Department 8 in Greensburg, was very artistic, as he enjoyed painting and writing, liked antiquing and had loved his dogs.
Surviving are his wife, DeNise J. (Pasco) Baker, whom he married Aug. 19, 1977; his daughters, Dr. Courtney Baker D.O. of Mars, and Abigail L. (Anthony) Karakkal J.D./B.S.N. of Easton, Pa.; one granddaughter, Angela C. Karakkal; and two sisters, Bonnie Baker of Greensburg and Barbara Lang of Pittsburgh.
BAKER — Friends of Dr. Mark D. Baker D.O., who died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
