Woman sought in October shooting incident in the city

City police filed charges and an arrest warrant Monday against a Butler woman they suspect was involved in an October shooting in the city.

Xzavia M. Adams, 23, is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor reckless endangerment for an alleged shooting Oct. 9 on the 400 block of Eau Claire Street.

Police were called at 2:34 a.m. to the scene where multiple callers from the neighborhood reported hearing a loud argument followed by a single gunshot.

Police said a man at the scene claimed he was involved in the altercation. He said a woman and two other men were being loud while getting into a vehicle, and he confronted them about the noise.

"He then showed me the area in the street from which the female fired the weapon. Right in that area, I located one unspent 9 mm shell and one spent 9 mm casing just a few feet apart,“ said the investigating officer in the affidavit. ”Both were photographed and seized for latent prints and DNA.

Police said the man was not injured, and officers did not find any bullet holes in his house; however a security from the Eau Claire Lounge captured the incident.

Police said the video shows the woman exit the vehicle and appears to show her pulling a purse of out the vehicle and then argue with the resident.

“When she does this, she reaches into the bag, turns back toward (the man) and fires one shot,” police said. “She then gets back into the vehicle, as does the driver, and the vehicle leaves.”

Police said in November, another officer came across a Facebook profile that appeared to belong to Adams and whose photograph matched still images taken from the security video.

Police said the images also match Adams’ concealed carry permit. Police said when they reviewed whether Adams had bought any guns in the past, it showed she owns two pistols, a 9 mm and a .22-caliber.

Following her arrest, Adams will be arraigned and scheduled a preliminary hearing.
