Robert Paul Trufley
Robert Paul Trufley, 67, of Slippery Rock, passed away peacefully at his residence in Slippery Rock after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
He was born Jan. 25, 1954, in Butler, to Joseph William Trufley and Mildred Irene Schlagel Trufley.
Robert graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1973, and was of the Catholic faith.
He enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities, including swimming, boating and spending time at the ocean. He was passionate about antique cars and enjoyed attending car shows. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He had lived in West Palm Beach, Fla. and Boulder, Colo., before returning permanently to Pennsylvania.
Robert was a union laborer for many years, and then worked at Countryside Carpet and Furniture. He was later self-employed, working as a landscaper.
He is survived by his partner of more than 44 years, Kelly R. Smith at home; his mother, M. Irene Trufley of Slippery Rock; a brother, Arnie (Carol) Trufley of Boyers; his sisters, Debbie (Joe) Germani of New Castle, Cyndi (Dan) Swidinski of West Sunbury, Elaine Trufley-Young of Butler, and Lisa Trufley of Slippery Rock; seven nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
TRUFLEY — The family of Robert Paul Trufley, who died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Lewis of Butler presiding.
