Festival in Woods to showcase arts, crafts, family fun
CABOT — Profits from this weekend's Whispering Pines Farm and Festival in the Woods will benefit veterans.
“All the profits go to that,” said Kerry McCann, owner and operator of Whispering Pines Farm. “We are pleased to do it for those guys.”
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, rain or shine.
It will feature 90 vendors, including artisans, boutiques, vintage, repurpose, industrial, antiques, jewelry, decorations, botanical, garden art, moonshine, wine, pet products, blacksmith and brewing.
Antique tractors will be on display all weekend with an antique car and truck show on Sunday.
“All the items are handmade,” McCann said. The farm is at 201 Winsome Lane.
Food includes fudge, beef jerky, ice cream, iced tea and five hot food vendors.
An auction will benefit Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, which helps those struggling with a variety of disorders including: PTSD, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders and mobility issues.
“People can eat and drink their way through the festival,” she said.
Children can meet two alpacas brought by Stone's Throw Farm, which will have handmade alpaca items. There also will be live music.
The biannual festival takes place the third weekend in June and September.
There will be parking available as well as handicap parking. The farm is handicap accessible.
Service animals are welcome, but no pets. Alcohol is not permitted.
Admission is $7 and free for children, ages 12 and younger. Servicemen and women will receive free admission with identification.
The festival offers people the chance to relax and disengage, McCann said.
“The world has gotten so fast and immediate with technology, it gives folks a time to come and enjoy and see handmade goods and help our community with local vendors,” she said. “It's a nice day for the whole family.”
