Douglas T. “Doug” Datt

Douglas T. “Doug” Datt, 79, of Valencia passed away Wednesday morning at Conemaugh Medical Center in Johnstown.

Born in Pittsburgh on July 10, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Kuntz Datt.

Doug had been a mechanic for Billco Volkswagen of Wexford and then worked for Tom Henry Chevrolet in Bakerstown. He later worked in the maintenance department at Family Resources.

A well-known Volkswagen repairman in the area, people came from all over to have him work on their cars.

He was a life member of the Valencia Volunteer Fire Department, now Adams Area Fire District.

His well-recognized smile will forever resonate within our hearts.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Pfeifer Datt, whom he married April 9, 1960; two daughters, Valerie Ploesch of Gibsonia and Leslie (Bill) Powell of Valencia; his grandchildren, Angel (Izzy) Powell, Jacob (Aubrey) Ploesch and Tori Ploesch; his great-grandchildren, Adia Ploesch and Amelia Maldonado; and a brother, Darrel Datt of Prospect.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Riffe and Marion Smith.
