SRU win streak at 8 games

GREENSBURG — The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team rolled to its eighth consecutive win over the weekend, defeating Seton Hill, 79-64.

The Rock (10-2, 4-2) trailed by three points at halftime and by nine, 46-37, with 15:58 remaining. SRU went on a 33-2 run to open up a 70-48 lead with 6:02 to play.

Micah Till paced SRU with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Simmons added 16 points and 10 boards. Merdic Green scored 14 points and Tony Gates came off the bench to net 12.

Trevor Blondin led Seton Hill (4-7, 1-5) with 22 points.

Seton Hill 85, SRU (women) 78 — The Rock (6-5, 4-2) dropped this road game despite 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists from Brooke Hinderliter.

Morgan Henderson added a career-high 18 points to go with five rebounds. Madison Johnson had 14 points and eight rebounds, Ciara Patterson 13 points and five boards.

Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson had seven points and four rebounds while making her seventh start of the season.

Cheyenne Trest scored 35 points, Alex Hay 26 for Seton Hill (9-3, 4-2).

Both Rock teams return to action Wednesday night at Morrow Field House against Mercyhurst. The women play at 5 p.m., the men at 7 p.m.
