CRANBERRY TWP — Police are urging residents to lock their car doors following “numerous reports” of overnight car break-ins.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the Cranberry Township Police Department noted it responded to reports of cars being entered in the Hazelwood Farms, St. Leonard’s Woods and Timberline neighborhoods. The Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department also indicated it had several reports of vehicle break-ins overnight Thursday.

Cranberry police determined the targeted vehicles were unlocked and items were stolen.

“Firearms, money, wallets, purses, backpacks, credit cards, electronics and medications are easy targets if left in a vehicle, especially one that is unlocked,” the department’s post stated.

Police ask anybody with information about the break-ins to call 724-776-5180. Residents should dial 911 if they see suspicious activity.
