Bones found at former hospital in city
Construction workers renovating the former Butler Hospital at the corner of Route 8 and South Main Street on Monday uncovered what appears to be human bones.
Denny Trzeciak, assistant Butler County coroner, said the workers called Butler police, who in turn called the coroner's office.
The workers were digging in a basement area not known as being used as the former hospital's morgue when they uncovered several bones.
A forensic anthropologist from Mercyhurst College in Erie was called Monday afternoon to excavate the site.
