History will come alive at the 33rd annual McConnells Mill Heritage Festival this weekend.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect, the event celebrates the historic time period of 1852 to 1928, when the gristmill harnessed the power of the Slippery Rock Creek to grind wheat for bread. Tour the mill with its original machinery, visit a Civil War encampment, participate in art and craft demonstrations and enjoy live music.
Artists and craftspeople from the local area demonstrate their skills and have their wares for sale. Family activities bring history to life at McConnells Mill State Park.
The free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
