Aiden Kern, run game lead Moniteau to 1st win; Knoch’s unbeaten start ends: Week 4 football highlights
Moniteau football got in the win column for the first time this season Friday night, running up on Bucktail 31-12 on the road.
Liam Allison and Aidan Shakley led the Warriors (1-3, 1-0 District 9, Region 4) offense in a big bounceback night for the ground game. Allison ran for 58 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, and Shakley added 49 yards and a score on 11 touches.
Aiden Kern also had a big night, returning a kickoff 90 yards to the house and catching a TD pass while finishing with two receptions for 65 yards. He also kicked a 25-yard field goal.
Mars 14, Hampton 7 — Nate Walker connected with Brady Brennan twice, and the Planets (1-3) picked up their first win of the season and first of the Zachary Benedek era on the road in a non-section game. Walker finished 14 of 25 for 216 yards and two touchdowns through the air, hitting Brennan four times for 87 yards. Jameson Garvin led the Planets with 16 carries for 76 yards, and Gus Coffield caught five passes for 69 yards.
Highlands 28, Knoch 14 — Golden Rams running back Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg ran roughshod on Knoch’s defense, accruing nearly 300 yards to hand the Knights their first loss of the year. Knoch (3-1, 0-1 Allegheny 7 Conference) was one of five Butler County teams to enter the night undefeated. Four of them lost. Owen-Cratsenberg scored the dagger when he was seemingly shoved out of bounds, only to tip-toe the sideline as Knights defenders appeared to pull up, and he ran it the rest of the way to make it 21-14 in the fourth quarter. Knights RB Ethan Rouleau had tied things up earlier on a big 49-yard TD run. Evan Fink caught a slant and ran more than 80 yards for the team’s first score.
Canon-McMillan 38, Seneca Valley 8 — The Raiders (2-1, 0-1 Quad County Conference) also suffered their first loss on a bad night all around for Butler County unbeaten teams. The Big Macs went up 31-0 in the third quarter, and Nico Wheeler’s 1-yard TD run in the third quarter proved Seneca Valley’s only score of the night. Hunter Burgh added the two-point conversion. Wheeler came on in relief at QB and finished 6 of 12 with 118 yards and an interception. Rory O’Shea caught five passes for 85 yards.
Rochester 44, Summit Academy 0 — The Knights’ tough start to the season continued with another shutout loss to fall to 0-4. E'Montee Taylor ran for a team-high 58 yards and threw for 53 more, but two interceptions, for Summit (0-4, 0-1 Big 8 Conference).
