Butler Area School District signs new transportation agreement after A.J. Myers & Sons sold
BUTLER TWP — With A.J. Myers & Sons — the transportation company serving two Butler County school districts — sold, Butler Area School District signed an amended transportation contract with the purchaser.
The district’s school board voted unanimously on Monday evening, Sept. 14, to approve a new transportation agreement with Krise Transportation, a statewide bus provider that purchased A.J. Myers.
Butler Area School District was contracted with A.J. Myers since late 2024 and the company took over transportation with the 2025-26 school year.
Superintendent Brian White said despite it changing hands, the contract is set to last eight years with 2025-26 counting as the first.
On Sept. 1, Mars Area School District, which also used A.J. Myers, signed a similar agreement with Krise. A.J. Myers leadership came to that meeting to thank the district and explain that the owners are ready to retire and decided to sell the company.
White said Monday he is hopeful that the change in companies will improve operations rather than impact them negatively.
“They have a larger recruiting and training department,” he explained.
According to its website, Krise serves Penn Hills and McKeesport school districts in Allegheny County, as well as Grove City, Franklin and Wilmington area school districts. It also serves districts across eastern and central Pennsylvania.
White said while there is the opportunity to gain new drivers, he emphasized that most of the current drivers for the district will remain in their jobs.
