Grove City Area Historical Society kicks off its speaker series with a program about the music of World War II.

Phil Atteberry will present a program on the music of World War II, the “Big Band Era.” Get your “Pennsylvania 6-5000” shout ready and join in the fun, said a news release from the historical society.

The program takes place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 111 College Ave., Grove City.

Atteberry taught on University of Pittsburgh campuses for 35 years, including many courses in American Popular Music and Jazz History. This “Music of World War II” program features audio clips of World War II-era songs, many of which come from movies of the time, and incorporates vintage photographs and posters.
