Butler boys golf narrowly edges out Seneca Valley on golf course: Highlights & scores
Karsten Lenyk’s 35, Eli Snyder’s 36 and Levi McClellan’s 37 helped Butler down Seneca Valley by one stroke, 189-190, in a nine-hole boys golf match at Slippery Rock Golf Club on Thursday. The Golden Tornado improve to 8-2 overall (4-2 in section).
The Raiders’ Bradley Steiener had an impressive 32 on the day.
Freeport 187, St. Joseph’s 251 — Max Zigo carded a 36 for the Yellowjackets (7-2, 5-2) at Buffalo Golf Course, while Jackson Kane, Liam McKivigan and Trey Schreckengost all had 37s.
With two goals from Cullin Forbes and another from Jude Perhacs, Butler beat Baldwin 3-0. Thad Mago posted a shutout in net.
Katelyn VanDyke had a hat trick, Phoebe Brandon added two more goals and Carly Conto the other as Karns City downed Redbank Valley 6-1. VanDyke also registered two assists.
Union senior libero Lilly Hayden reached 500 career digs — posting 19 — as her team down Forest 3-0, by scores of 25-9, 25-17 and 25-21.
Moniteau 3, A-C Valley 0 — Emily Matz had 15 digs, three aces and 12 kills for the winning Warriors.
Lexi Altman had five assists for the Falcons, while Gianna Louise had four kills. The scores of the match were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-18.
Slippery Rock 3, Cochranton 1 — Lexi Caldwell offered 29 assists and seven digs, and Savannah Smith and Gia Kovacik had 10 kills apiece, as the Rockets won by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-19.
