Get a tour of Butler’s historic mansions
Join local historian and storyteller Bill May Saturday, Sept. 12, for his Historic Mansions of Butler Walking Tour.
The 90-minute tour begins at 6 p.m. at the northwest corner of North McKean and Howard Streets and takes participants on a tour of 20 homes of the historic neighborhood of North McKean, East Fulton and East Pearl Streets. Participants will hear stories and see photos behind these preserved homes as well as their connections to Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, John D. Rockefeller, the Civil War and the Underground Railroad. The story of a local murder will also be featured.
The tour does not go into the homes. The rain date is 6 p.m. Sept. 13.
