The Grove City Area Historical Society is presenting aviation history throughout September.

The display at the Grove City Community Library focuses on Grove City-area residents who made aviation history, like Earle Sandt, credited as the first to fly across Lake Erie, over Pittsburgh and from Brookville to Punxsutawney in 1912, before dying in a crash in 1913.

Visitors can also learn about Russell Covert, an Army Air Corp. aviator who served in World War II; and Capt. Michael Jablonovsky, U.S. Air Force graduate of the Air Force Military Academy.

Pictures are available of the memorial ROTC jet that was “stationed” on the Grove City College campus from 1957 to 1989, and the airplane that provided the first airmail service in Grove City in 1939.

The library, 125 W. Main St., Grove City, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Friday; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
