Mary Lou Dampf, 86, of Butler, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026.

She was born in Cannonsburg, on April 30, 1940, daughter of the late Charles and Lena Mae (Frye) Klages.

Mary Lou was an LPN who worked as a substitute school nurse for South Butler School District.

In her free time, she enjoyed quilting and growing roses. She was a Girl Scout leader and bowled with the local league. Mary Lou loved the outdoors and attending the family camp in Elk County.

Mary Lou was the beloved wife of the late John Dampf, whom she married July 27, 1963; mother of Julie (Philip) Nini and Kimberly Long; and grandmother of Bryce and Elizabeth Long. She is also lovingly survived by her granddogs, Bear, Yoshi and Banjo.

Along with her parents, and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Barker; brother, Fred Klages; and her in-laws, Margaret (Lombardi) and John Dampf Sr.

DAMPF — Family and friends of Mary Lou Dampf, who died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.
