Franklin Road will be partially closed starting Aug. 18
Part of Franklin Road between Cranberry Commons Drive and Mars Road will be closed from Aug. 18 through Sept. 3 for road reconstruction.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that during the 17-day closure, a detour will be set up:
Drivers traveling northward can detour on Peters Road, turn left on Route 19, turn left on Route 228 and continue to the Franklin Road intersection. Drivers traveling southward will follow the same route in reverse.
The reconstruction work is part of the Franklin Road Corridor Safety Improvement Project in Cranberry Township, which includes shoulder widening, installation of edge-line rumble strips and sight distance improvements along Franklin Road.
The four-year, $19.1 million project is projected to be completed by November 2027, according to PennDOT.
