Applications are open for a financial award intended for women who are the main support system for their families.

Soroptimist International of Butler County is offering its Live Your Dream financial award, which can be applied to education or job training programs. A top award of $2,000 will be presented at the group’s annual April fundraising luncheon.

“This award is designed to help ease the path of single moms who are working hard to improve their lives and be positive role models for their children,” said Laura Ankrom, cochairwoman of the Butler Live Your Dream committee.

Many past recipients of the club awards have overcome poverty, addiction, domestic violence or extreme healthcare issues to achieve their goals.

Recipients can use the Live Your Dream Award to offset costs associated with their efforts to earn an associate or bachelor’s degree or additional job skills and training. This includes tuition, books, childcare, transportation or any other education-related expense.

Applications are only available through at http://bit.ly/LYDA-apply and are due by Nov. 15.

The top award recipient of the Butler County club will then advance to the Soroptimist North Atlantic Region level, where recipients can receive up to an additional $5,000. The program culminates with three finalist $10,000 awards.
