Hassler

Edgar “Ed” Eugene Hassler Jr., 83, of Butler, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, peacefully, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 16, 1943, in Cheswick, Pa., the son of the late Edgar E. Hassler Sr. and Sarah “Jessie” (McLaren) Hassler.

Ed held a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Geneva College and had been an employee of Armstrong Utilities for 51 years, where he retired as the vice president of engineering. He was a member of Mount Nebo Presbyterian Church, and also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time helping family and friends with home improvement projects.

Surviving are three sons, Edgar (Georgette) Hassler III, of North Carolina, Allen (Sonya) Hassler, of Cabot, and Chad (Adriane) Hassler, of Saxonburg; a daughter, Christina (Dan) Beggs, of Butler; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cheryl (Bill) Riding, of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance E. (Kinneer) Hassler; and a sister.

HASSLER — Friends of Edgar “Ed” Eugene Hassler Jr., who died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Private interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
