James ‘Denny’ Meyers

Meyers

James Dennis “Denny” Meyers, 81, of Middletown, Conn., passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, following a brief illness.

He was born June 6, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Peg Meyers, of Zelienople; and his brother, Carl Meyers, of Fort Myers, Fla.

He is survived by his sister, Sue Arnold (Chris Arnold), of Zelienople; his son, Travis Meyers (Stephanie) and their children, Arthur, and twins, Cecelia Rose and Birdie James; and by his daughters, Meg Meyers (Tim Fox), of Columbia, Conn., and Haley Meyers, of Baltimore, Md.

Denny grew up in Zelienople, scooped ice cream in his mom and dad’s Isaly Dairy Store on Main Street, was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and graduated from Zelienople High School. He loved high school sports, theater and water-skiing on Edinboro Lake every summer.

Denny was the first theatre major to graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His careers included teaching, acting, producing and directing in television and in the theater. After retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, visiting friends and family in Zelienople and walking in the fields surrounding his home with his cherished rescue dog, Billie.

Denny added energy and charisma to every circumstance, whether acting in a high school or college play or playing in a high school basketball game. Denny approached all aspects of his life with enthusiasm, confidence and humor. He made a lasting impression on all those around him, including students, friends, fellow actors, neighbors and most of all, his loving family.

In Denny’s memory, donate to a local rescue organization.

Funeral services were private. Interment will be in the Zelienople Mausoleum.
