John L. “Jack” Leech, 83, of Chicora, Oakland Township, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, 2026, at Concordia at Cabot.

John was a lifelong resident of the village of North Oakland, where he was born on Jan. 1, 1943. He was the son of the late Albin M. and Gladys Benson Leech.

Jack was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, and a member of American Legion Post No. 642, in Chicora. He had been employed at Magnetics in Butler as an electrician and retired after 43 years of service.

He was a longtime member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and was a member of the National Rifle Association, Butler Hunting and Fishing Club, Keystone Elk Country Alliance, North American Hunting Club and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Jack is survived by his goddaughter and caregiver, Laurie Spohn and her husband, Mark; his cousin; Bev Leech; and his close friends and neighbors, Tom and Merlene Uenking; as well as a number of additional cousins and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemarie and Thomas Snyder; and his close cousin, Gordon Leech.

LEECH — A funeral mass for John L. “Jack” Leech, who died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 Saint Wendelin Road, Butler, with the Rev. Matt McClain, pastor of Sts. Francis and Clare Parish, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in the village of North Oakland.
