Variety of acts in Farm Show music lineup
A wide variety of musical acts, playing in genres from bluegrass to gospel to classic rock, will take the stage at the Armstrong Pavilion to entertain Butler Farm Show visitors.
The music begins on Sunday with Dan Schall Ministries, which will lead the Farm Show’s interdenominational worship service and play a variety of gospel and worship songs.
The Honky Tonk Heroes, who play classic country and honky tonk hits, will return to the Farm Show for the first time in five years on Monday.
The Cool Change Band will make their Farm Show debut on Tuesday. The band plays songs from a mix of genres, ranging from yacht and classic rock to country music.
On Wednesday, Echo Valley, a bluegrass and gospel band, will return to the Farm Show for the first time in a decade.
On Thursday, The Wrangler Band, which plays classic rock and country rock songs, will return to the Butler Farm Show to play two shows.
Two acts from last year’s Farm Show are lined up for the last two days this year. Tim Graves and the Farm Hands, a Nashville-based bluegrass act, will play two shows on Friday.
The Farm Show’s live music lineup will conclude with the Backstage Buffet Band’s show on Saturday. The band plays classic rock and country songs.
All shows are included with Farm Show admission.
Farm show secretary Ken Metrick said the acts at the farm show come from many different places. Some acts ask to play at the farm show. Others are acts the farm show directors find, whether themselves or by word-of-mouth.
“A lot of it is just bands that maybe we’ve run across somewhere over the years playing somewhere at a different venue,” Metrick said.
“Sometimes, it’s word-of-mouth — people tell us, ‘you ought to try this.’”
Metrick said the farm show likes to have a mix of both new and returning bands.
“We never have the same bands more than two years in a row,” he said. “They may come back down the road five or six years from now, but we run them two years and keep switching off.”
Metrick said that allows the farm show to have a variety of music and avoid having the exact same lineup of artists year after year.
With a strong mix of returning acts from last year’s farm show, old favorites and new offerings, the farm show’s music lineup will have something for every music lover.
And like every year, attendees can catch the Old Time Fiddling, Banjo, Mandolin & Flat Top Guitar Contest which is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
