What started as a plowing contest in 1947 has now become an annual family tradition.

The Butler Farm Show is back for its 78th year, bringing agriculture, entertainment and family fun to the county. Rain or shine, gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and stay open until 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Aug. 10 through 15.

The farm show grounds are at 625 Evans City Road, Connoquenessing Township, and will feature some of the usual activities, such as livestock shows, arts and crafts competitions, and live music. Each night will feature musical acts and new bands from a variety of genres under the Armstrong Pavilion.

The show is a chance for Butler County to highlight it’s agricultural scene. It brings families and exhibitors together to educate people on one of the most important aspects of the county’s economy.

While fan favorites, such as the demolition derby and tractor pull will return, the show will also feature new vendors and bands, including The Cool Change Band, which plays a mix of bluegrass and country music.
