State police had to deploy a tire deflation device to stop an Ohio man Saturday, July 25, after he made police believe he would stop then continued fleeing at 120 mph.

Camron Nairb James, 21, of Youngstown, Ohio, was initially spotted going about 80 mph in a 45-mph zone on Route 422 West in Franklin Township.

Police pulled James over near the intersection of Route 422 and Eagle Mill Road. When they began approaching his vehicle on foot, James pulled back onto Route 422 and fled east at high speeds, police said.

James was charged Saturday with one felony count each of fleeing police and evading arrest, one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and DUI and several summary offenses.

Police said after fleeing the traffic stop, James reached speeds up to 120 mph and unsafely passed several vehicles before state police in Kittanning deployed the tire deflation device at the intersection of Route 422 and Clearfield Road.

James then turned onto Cornetti Road and fled on foot, police said, but was stopped by a fence along the woods. Police said he pulled away from officers while being apprehended and showed signs of impairment.

James was held in Butler County Prison but posted bail of $40,000 the same day, according to court records. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 5 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
