Ford City man accused of sexually assaulting girl in Armstrong hospital parking lot

A Ford City man is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl inside a vehicle in the ACMH Hospital parking lot.

State police in Kittanning said they received a report May 13 that Benjamin Andrew Dean, 23, had taken a girl and her mother to the hospital early in the morning of April 25 when the alleged assault occurred.

Dean was charged Thursday, July 9, with four felony counts of aggravated indecent assault, two felony counts each of unlawful contact with minors and corruption of minors and two misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.

Police said the assault occurred while Dean and the girl were in the car waiting for the girl’s mother, who was seeking treatment at the hospital. According to police, Dean sexually assaulted the girl for about 15 minutes during which time the girl told Dean “she didn’t really want this.”

The two then left the parking lot and returned shortly thereafter, when Dean allegedly sexually assaulted the girl again for about 10 to 15 minutes. The girl tried to push Dean away multiple times but was unsuccessful, police said.

After the assaults, Dean told the girl not to tell anyone because “he didn’t want to get in trouble,” police said. Dean also allegedly made the girl delete text messages between them on her phone.

Police interviewed Dean May 17 and said he confessed to the first assault but denied the second.

Dean is being held in Armstrong County Prison on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge Kenneth Bussard.
