Sheriff’s Office, ICE arrest 33 in June in Butler County
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office assisted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with 33 arrests in June.
Those detained in June’s ICE operations were arrested on charges of armed robbery, assault, drug offenses and entering the country illegally, sometimes more than once, Sheriff Mike Slupe said Friday, July 3.
He said most of the arrests were made in the southern portion of the county.
The announcement comes a day after Butler resident, Ignacio Carrizalez, was released from ICE detention at Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County. Carrizalez, who was actively working to become a citizen, was detained by immigration agents April 28. On June 18, he was told by an immigration judge to either self-deport or be deported.
After his release, his deportation date was pushed to September, according to his wife, Amanda Smail-Carrizalez.
The sheriff’s office has previously said it was not involved in Carrizalez’s arrest.
