A 2018 graduate of Seneca Valley High School was named a “rising star” by Ohio’s Society of Professional Journalists.

Reporter Sarah Donaldson, who is based in Columbus, received the society’s 2026 Rising Star Award. She is a Statehouse News Bureau reporter and producer for Ideastream Public Media. The judges said competition was tight, but “(Donaldson) stood out the most.”

In 2022, Donaldson graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Her experience includes a summer internship at the Butler Eagle in 2019.
