2 motorcyclists injured in high-speed crash along PA Turnpike

Two motorcycles collided at a “very high rate of speed” Tuesday, June 16, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Cranberry Township, according to state police in Gibsonia.

Kaja Z. Johnson, 22, of Aliquippa, and Rezy S. Johnson, 26, of Pittsburgh, were both taken with suspected serious injuries to UPMC Mercy Hospital following the afternoon crash.

The crash occurred near the 27.2 mile marker on Interstate 76 east. Police said the riders were riding beside each other in the left lane when the one closest to the left lane barrier struck the other. The drivers were attempting to pass a vehicle in the right lane at the time, police said.

The drivers were operating Kawasaki and Aprilia motorcycles.
