City approves Butler Area Skatepark Association event
The Butler Area Skatepark Association is ramping up its events for this summer starting later this month.
Butler City Council voted 3-0 at their forum meeting Thursday, June 11, to approve the lease agreement with Butler Area Skatepark Association for their upcoming event, Party in the Park ’26. Councilman Troy Douthett, who serves on the skatepark association’s board, abstained.
“It’s going to be a great event,” Councilwoman Lisa Quebedeaux said before the vote was taken.
Party in the Park ’26 will be held at Father Marinaro Park’s skate park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The event is free to attend and will serve as a fundraising opportunity for the association.
“We’re raising funds to build a new skate park in Butler and to help get skateboards and bikes into the hands of kids who otherwise wouldn’t have access,” the event listing on Facebook said.
According to the event listing, the day will feature live music from nine musicians, multiple skating competitions, several family activities, food vendors, raffles and more. Every attendee will also be entered for a chance to win a 65-inch smart TV door prize.
The next Butler City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25.
