2 arrests lead to more than 200 pills, $41,000 seized in Butler Township
Two arrests Thursday, June 4, allegedly led to more than 200 oxymorphone pills, $41,000 and several firearms being seized by Butler County detectives.
Eric Deangelo Hunter, 36, of Hilliards, and Calvin Arlonte Heath, 29, of Butler, were tracked by the Butler County Drug Task Force beginning in February under suspicion of distributing oxymorphone in the area.
Hunter was charged Friday with felony possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, felony firearms possession and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession. Heath was charged Friday with felony possession with intent to deliver controlled substances.
Both men came to Butler from Detroit. They were apprehended in Butler Township after state police and the task force executed search warrants on their residences in the 100 blocks of West Muntz Avenue and Filbert Road, according to Detective Douglas Brink.
Police said Hunter was stopped in a Nissan Altima and found to have in his possession $4,550, two cellphones and a firearm underneath the driver’s seat. A search warrant on his residence uncovered an additional $780, two large stacks of bills, at least 76 oxymorphone pills and marijuana. Police said at least 25 of the pills were of a higher dosage and were valued at $120 each. Oxymorphone is a Schedule II opioid pain medication.
Heath was stopped in a Jeep Cherokee and was found to have in his possession two oxymorphone pills and at least $608, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Hunter and Heath are being held in Butler County Prison with bails of $60,000 and $20,000, respectively. Hunter’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 18. Heath’s is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. July 9. Both are before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
