Community putting on garage sale as humane society fundraiser
Residents of the Middlesex Crossing neighborhood will have a two-day garage sale and a one-day bake sale to raise money to donate to the Butler County Humane Society.
Mary Ellis, of Middlesex Township, said she rallied some neighbors for the event, which will take place June 13 and 14 in Middlesex Crossing, which includes Adair Street, Humbolt Place and Ringold Court.
Ellis is primarily focusing on the bake sale, which will only take place Saturday, June 13. She is preparing sweets to sell to people as they peruse items in people’s garages. She said she moved to the area from California about four years ago and is organizing the fundraiser because she is a lifelong supporter of no-kill animal shelters like the Butler County Humane Society.
“I'm very passionate about no-kill animal shelters and support a volunteer shelter in California called Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary,” Ellis said. “My neighbors are very generous.”
Ellis said the sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 13 and 14 in Middlesex Crossing and several residents plan to participate.
She added she hopes to raise a few hundred dollars and the humane society is aware of the fundraiser.
