The Butler County chapter of the North Country Trail will host two events in May.

The chapter will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Jennings Environmental Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Brady Township, to discuss upcoming hikes and trail maintenance opportunities on the nearly 60-mile section of the national trail.

The group will also have a “Celebrate Mothers Hike” at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at McDanels Boat Launch at Pavilion 7 in Moraine State Park. The event begins with a light brunch and is followed by a family-friendly hike on the North Country Trail, which loops back through the park’s butterfly trail.
