Slippery Rock hosts spring commencement
More than 1,600 students of Slippery Rock University’s Class of Spring 2026 were honored over four commencement ceremonies on May 8 and 9.
Twenty of the graduates were members of the SRU U.S. Army ROTC, and were commissioned as officers at the ceremony. Morgan Fleming, a graduate from Moon Township, is one of those 20. At graduation, Fleming was sworn into the Army National Guard.
“My favorite memory is just meeting all of my friends and spending all the time I’ve spent with them,” Fleming said.
At Morrow Field House, graduate students’ commencement was Friday, May 8. Saturday, May 9, held the rest of the ceremonies. Students in the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and the Rock Life program were honored at 9 a.m.; those in the Haverlack College of Business at noon; and those in the College of Engineering and Science and the College of Health Professions at 3 p.m.
Emily Li, a graduate from Somerset, said she enjoyed her time in the Slippery Rock culture. She said everyone has a welcoming family dynamic at the college.
Chloe Kemp, of Moon Township, is also anticipating her postcollege career.
“I’m excited to use everything that I learned here to make a difference in the real world,” Kemp said.
