Scout earns Eagle Scout rank by serving Moraine State Park

Ian McClelland, of Scout Troop 6, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting’s highest honor, through the Moraine Trails Council of Scouting America. Ian officially achieved the rank April 12, following the successful completion of a significant community service project at Moraine State Park.

He partnered with the Moraine Preservation Fund to improve a well-used area of Moraine State Park — McDanels Boat Launch. The project was designed to support park visitors while contributing to the long-term preservation and accessibility of the launch.

As required for the Eagle Scout rank, McClelland planned, organized and led the project. He coordinated volunteers, managed materials and oversaw the work, from start to finish. The effort demonstrated leadership, responsibility and a commitment to service, which are all qualities central to the Eagle Scout designation.

McClelland’s accomplishment reflects not only his personal commitment, but also the strong Scouting tradition of Troop 6 and the Moraine Trails Council. His work at Moraine State Park, which will continue to serve the community, stands as a lasting example of youth leadership and service.
