Robin Jewart
In loving memory of our beloved Robin Jewart
who passed way one year ago today.
One Year Without You
The calendar turns,
yet the air still holds your voice -
soft as the hush before rain,
warm as the light that used to spill
across our kitchen floor.
I have learned the weight of absence,
how it settles in the bones,
how it lingers in the corners of rooms
where your laughter once lived.
The seasons have circled,
but your touch remains -
in the scent of lilacs by the gate,
in the way the evening sun
paints gold on the walls,
just as you loved it.
Grief is not a storm that passes;
it is the tide that returns,
bringing shells of memory to my hands.
I hold them gently,
for they are all I have left to hold.
One year,
and I still feel you in the spaces between heartbeats,
still I love you -
as if time were nothing at all.
Love always, Gary
