Dr. Hunter “Patch” Adams toured the St. Barnabas campus April 29, 2010, spreading joy while proving that friendship, not laughter, really is the best medicine.
Adams, the innovative doctor and clown, became a household name after being portrayed by actor Robin Williams in the 1998 film “Patch Adams.” He came to the Richland Township campus to celebrate St. Barnabas’ Founder's Day, an annual event that celebrates the institution's history.
“I wouldn't rather be anywhere else than at a place that celebrates caring for free,” Adams said. “It's inexcusable that care isn't free all over the world.”
