Mars’ Monica Grunden makes mark at SV invite: Roundup
Mars’ Monica Grunden placed first in the 1,600-meter run at Friday’s Seneca Valley Invitational, while Riley Carrel set a new Planets all-time record with a 9-foot, 8.5-inch pole vault.
Other top-three finishers for Mars included Emma Bloom (100 hurdles), Audrey Lyker (300 hurdles), James Watenpool (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Sam Argotti (800 meters).
— Slippery Rock’s girls finished as runner-ups at Saturday’s Hermitage Invitational, thanks to a first-place effort by Samantha Montgomery in the triple jump (35-3) and invidiual second place finishes by Montgomery in the long jump (16-1.5), Lydia Springirth in the high jump (4-11) and Natalie Wilson in the pole vault (9-6).
On the boys’ side, the Rockets’ Hunter Doerflinger placed second in the 800 meters (1:58.20).
