Van transporting Center Township Elementary students involved in crash

Driver flown to hospital

One adult was flown to the hospital for suspected moderate injuries following a school van crash Monday afternoon, April 13.

According to state police, emergency responders were called to a crash at about 4 p.m. on Holyoke Road, south of Hollow Lane, in Center Township.

According to police, the driver, Jordan Johnson, of Butler, drove off the left side of the road and into a tree.

Kara Droney, Butler Area School District director of communications, said the A.J. Myers and Sons van was carrying five Center Township Elementary School students when it veered off the road.

According to Butler County Emergency Services, Johnson was flown to UPMC Presbyterian. In addition to the driver, an adult passenger in the van and the students were all evaluated by emergency medical service personnel. The adult passenger was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. According to police, a child passenger sustained suspected minor injuries.

All parents were notified of the crash.
