Butler Area School District joined the News Literacy Project’s District Fellowship program this year, netting $30,000 in grants and customized support to implement news literacy education districtwide over three years.

The project has newly accepted 14 districts in the U.S., to ensure students learn to think critically and engage responsibly with the news and information, according to a news release from the News Literacy Project.

“In today’s complex information landscape, teaching our students to think critically about the news is more important than ever,” said Brian White, superintendent of Butler Area School District. “This opportunity will provide our educators with the resources and support needed to ensure every student in our district becomes an informed, thoughtful and responsible consumer of information.”
