Mental Illness Week rally set Oct. 9

The Grapevine Center is hosting its annual remembrance and celebration of life rally on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Alameda Park.

The event is part of Mental Illness Week, taking place Oct. 6 through 12, and is organized to honor and remember people in the area who have died during the past year, and to bring attention to the ravages of mental illness on all strata of society.

Meghan Eberle, the vice president of clinical services of Carelon Health of PA, will be the event’s keynote speaker. Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel will be presenting a proclamation on mental illness awareness to Bette Peoples, the Grapevine Center’s executive director.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park. A lighted torch procession will end the event, and a buffet lunch will be served.
