Marlene Druschel
Marlene Rebecca Druschel (nee Wix), 78, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, in Largo, Fla.
Born on Aug. 16, 1945, in West Chester, Pa., Marlene was the daughter of the late H. Marvin and B. Irene Wix (nee Bailey).
Marlene graduated from Evans City High School and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in business from Slippery Rock University. After nearly 20 years of dedicated service, Marlene retired from United Refining of Warren, Pa., as a buyer. During her tenure at United, Marlene was involved with organizing incentive trips and trade shows. Before joining United, she was a merchandise manager for Wetterau and a member of their junior board of directors, a career highlight.
During her free time, Marlene enjoyed cooking, sudoku, crossword puzzles, going to the beach, and volunteering her time with Master Gardeners.
Marlene is survived by her daughter, Margie Mackrell; son, Greg Druschel (Amanda); granddaughter, Wynee Druschel; brother, Don Wix (Georga); nieces, Karen Kaczmarek, Melanie Kohler (Matt), Sharon Hohmeyer and Lynn Durka (Roger); nephew, Don Wix (Kelly); and her cat, Annie.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her sister, Henrietta Zeise; son-in-law, Gordon Mackrell; and Jerry Druschel, ex-husband and dear friend.
DRUSCHEL — A private celebration of life for Marlene Rebecca Druschel (nee Wix), who died Sunday, July 7, 2024, will be held at a later date.
Contributions in memory of Marlene may be made to the Master Gardeners of Volusia County, Fla., or the Slippery Rock University Scholarship Fund.
