Walter L. Dawson, 93, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1931, to the late Howard and Jessie (Geiser) Dawson.

Walter graduated from Hampton High School in 1948. He worked as a meat cutter at Thorofare until retiring in 1984. He also worked as a farmer until retiring in 1991 at the age of 60. Walter enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, farming, and spending time with his family. He was also a loyal member of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church and served on session throughout the years.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Jennie “Marcy” (Siedlecki) Dawson, whom he married on June 21, 1952; his five children, Debra (Charles) Hinton, Walter (Linda) Dawson Jr., Carol (Thomas Jr.) Stotish, Robert (Renee Hickey) Dawson and Ruth (Herb) Wejner; his eight grandchildren, Joy, Jennie, Adam, Ashley, Dawn, Leslie, Christopher and Rachel; his 12 great-grandchildren, Noah, Harmoni, Sidney, Georgia, Levi, Bing, Ella, Lily, Gavin, Jocelyn, Evelyn and Adalyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his six brothers as well as his four sisters.

DAWSON — A visitation for Walter L. Dawson, who died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Allio officiating.

Burial will take place at Summit United Presbyterian Cemetery.
