Route 228 construction won’t impact Mars first day of school
ADAMS TWP — As the Route 228/Three Degree Road intersection project continues, construction affecting Brickyard Road and access to district buildings will be complete in time for the first day of school, Mars Area District superintendent Mark Gross said.
“Everything will be ready prior to the first day for students,” Gross said at a school board meeting Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Line painting will occur during an in-service day, he said, likely Tuesday. Students will return to school on Aug. 22.
During construction, access to the district’s administration office, Mars Area Primary Center and Mars Area Elementary School is available via the Docs Way access road.
Additionally, Gross said he continues to meet with architectural firm DRAW Collective each Tuesday to discuss the district’s planned $24 million elementary school expansion project. He said he will continue providing project updates to the board as discussions unfold.
