John Carl Baptiste, 79, of Butler, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 15, 1945, in Butler, he was a son of the late Dolores Baptiste.

John enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He and his wife, Deloris, enjoyed sightseeing and walking in the parks and forests of Western Pennsylvania. He liked driving and working on his and his family’s dirt track race cars. He was a huge fan of stock car racing and NASCAR.

John worked at Laubscher Cheese Company in Mercer, Barnsteel Abrasives in Butler and PMF Rentals in Zelienople.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Ann Gravatt Baptiste; six children, William Baptiste (Kim) of Fredonia, Teresa Peters of Mercer, Tina Aley of West Middlesex, Charles Baptiste (Bobbie) of Fredonia, Michael Black (Stacie) of Greenville and Mark Black (Elizabeth) of Westerville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

John is also survived by one sister, Marlene Reagan (Rubble) of Glenshaw; one uncle, Kenneth Baptiste of Butler; and one aunt, Betty Baptiste of Herman.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

BAPTISTE — There will be no visitation or service for John Carl Baptiste, who died Sunday, July 28, 2024. A celebration of life for family and friends to be announced.
