Bear sighted in Meridian
Fireflies aren’t the only things seen at night in Butler County.
On Wednesday, June 12, around 12:30 a.m., Meridian resident Don Musko spotted a black bear on Saw Mill Run Road next to Saw Mill Run Park.
“It was a huge, huge bear,” Musko said. He estimates the bear was about 500 pounds, and more than 6 feet tall standing on its hind legs. “I’ve had many a bear sighting, and I had one last year. That bear was captured in Connoquenessing Township last year, unless this is his brother.”
“He just lumbered away after I got him off the bird feeder, just lumbered, lumbered away,” Musko said of the bear he saw Wednesday.
No cubs were spotted with the bear.
