Donna Scott
Donna E. Scott, 94, of Grove City, formerly of Chicora, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024, at Quality Life Services — Grove City.
Donna was born in Butler on Aug. 27, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Florence Thompson Miller from Concord Township.
She was a graduate of Concord Township High School and Butler Business School. She had been employed as the secretary to the president of Penn Champ in East Butler for eight years, and later as secretary to the vice president of the McDade Company in Monroeville. She retired in 1984.
After retirement, Donna and her husband, Dick, spent the next 18 winters in South Carolina, where she had been employed as a part-time legal secretary. After permanently retiring, Donna and her husband moved to Emlenton where they resided for the next 20 years before moving to Acadia Lane in Chicora.
Donna was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church and the church’s Who Do Sunday school class. She enjoyed attending the Chicora Senior Center and was an avid card player. Donna was a Past Matron of the former Chicora Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and had been a member of the Cavendish Bridge Club.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Presley “Dick” Scott, whom she married on Sept. 14, 1957, at the Concord Presbyterian Church in Hooker. Mr. Scott passed away on Nov. 30, 2013.
Surviving are a son, retired Chief Warrant Officer Richard K. Scott, U.S. Army, and his wife, Jene Jene, of Vine Grove, Ky.; a granddaughter, Alexis Scott of Greensburg; a sister, Glenda Eakin of Grove City; four nephews; three nieces; and a number of cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
SCOTT — Friends of Donna E. Scott, who died Saturday, June 8, 2024, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF KARNS CITY, 128 Main St., Karns City. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Beverly Roscoe, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
